The End of an Era... Goodbye WKGS

Last week was an emotional one, after what feels like two very short years, my time in sixth form at West Kirby Grammar School came to an end...

Thursday saw my last official day there, with no more lessons I'm now on study leave, which is great as it allows me to study and revise from home. It's a bittersweet feeling, not having to go to school anymore... Obviously I'll appreciate the extra lie-ins, but it also means I won't get to see my best friends every day, I'll miss joking around in class, I'll even miss being teased by the boys I sit next to in Biology!

It's crazy to think the place I despised for the first week became my second home, and gave me the best two years of my life... I've got more amazing memories than I ever thought I'd have, and so many experiences that I'm extremely grateful for. I'll cherish them, and the wonderful people I've met, forever.

To celebrate our last day, we had a theme of Neverland, in the hope that we would never grow up. Myself and several of my friends dressed as Tinkerbell, with others as Captain Hook, Peter Pan himself, and even the crocodile!
The school drama studio was transformed into an enchanted forest, and the whole year gathered there for a picnic and time together. There was also a photo booth in the dining room, which was pretty amazing! We went down in our friendship groups to get photos taken, and in some cases even had class photo's taken! My favourites definitely have to be with my geography teachers, as that class and the people in it were my favourite...

We were allowed to leave after 12:00, and so myself, Cat, Emma and Alex went to the chippy for lunch and sat on a wall at the beach. Unfortunately, I had an exam that afternoon and went back to school to sit it, and thankfully I think it went okay!

I'm still shocked as to how the past two years have come and gone so quickly, they say time flies when you're having fun, and whoever "they" are, they definitely do not lie... Where has all the time gone?

Picnics and Playing in the Park

What's better than taking a break from the stresses of life and reliving your childhood?

Last weekend was my amazing friend Emma's 18th birthday, and to celebrate she decided to ditch fancy meals and alcohol-filled parties, but rather have a picnic in the park with all of our friends! It was a lovely sunny day, albeit a little windy, and we found ourselves at a local park with a hell of a lot of food... We lay down some blankets, set out the food and began our feast! Apparently we weren't the only ones who wanted a bite to eat that day, as we had visits from several adorable dogs and puppies!

After the picnic and stuffing ourselves with food, we decided to let our inner ten-year old selves run wild and play a few games of football! I bet that didn't look weird at all, fourteen 18 year old girls having a kick about in the park... It was extremely fun, even if it did leave me breathless and gasping for air - note to self, go to the gym more! Our team won, and I played the role of an excellent goalie if I do say so myself... We also made human pyramids, played "stuck in the mud" and also a few games of sardines!

Once the fun was over and we were feeling a little worn out (we're not ten anymore after all!) we headed back to Emma's to continue the party in a more sophisticated way... Or so we thought...
After Emma opened her presents, we ended up playing wink murder, and making our death scenes as dramatic as possible! Forever the drama queens... I swear I thought someone was actually dying at one point... We then proceeded to play Heads Up - the electronic game of charades, which ultimately ended up with everyone screaming to the person guessing... It was a lot of fun...

It was the perfect de-stresser, as I've really been feeling the pressure of revision and exams lately. Having a whole day of forgetting your responsibilities and acting like a child was just what I needed, and am I crazy in saying I can't wait to do it again

What have you been up to lately?

A Brief Hiatus...

Hi everyone, as you may have noticed I've been a little dormant on the blog lately, and I feel like I owe an explanation...

Don't get me wrong, nothing terrible has happened, nor has my passion for blogging subsided, in fact it's quite the opposite... I've wanted to sit down and write a bunch of times, but I always felt that the time I spent blogging could have been used to get some hard-core revision done. With 11 upcoming A-Level exams, it's been difficult to find the time to blog, not to mention everything that comes along with it!

I realise it's not the best excuse in the world, but that's the only reason for my absence... Damn revision...
I also had planned to write posts in preparation for my study time, and to schedule them... That didn't happen though did it...

I'm by no means lacking in inspiration, in fact I have a whole list of posts I want to do, it's just finding the time... Hopefully within the next few weeks I'll come out of hiatus and post a little bit more, eventually getting back into the full swing of things come summer... I'll have a lot to write about by that point, so please be patient with me, and look forward to what I've got planned!

In A Nutshell | Birthdays & Big Decisions

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you've all had a wonderful week, and a lovely extended weekend for those of you in the UK!

Despite having another same-old week, full of sixth form and never-ending revision, I've also had a pretty fun week! I also apologise for the lack of a post this week... I ran out of drafts without realising and haven't had the time to write any more... Whoops...

On Tuesday it was my sister's 13th birthday, so to celebrate we went to Hickory's Smokehouse, one of our favourite restaurants. I ordered the BBQ chicken skewers with rustic chips, which was amazing as always!

Abby, Mum, Me

As it was a celebratory evening, the waiter gave Abby the opportunity to go behind the bar and make herself a milkshake! She made a chocolate milkshake, and they also gave us a strawberry milkshake and a mint choc chip one on the house! Extra points for Hickory's...

For dessert we ordered the sharing campfire - a set of marshmallows with chocolate sauce and a fire for roasting! It was delicious, and thoroughly enjoyed!

This week I also made my UCAS choices, possibly one of the biggest decisions I've ever made, which was very daunting yet also exciting! I chose Liverpool as my firm choice and Manchester my insurance... Now all I have to do is work hard to get the grades!
I booked my theory test this week as well. After having driving lessons for a while, and getting closer to taking my driving test, I thought it was about time I booked my theory!

This evening I'm heading out for a bite to eat with friends, as well as finally going to see The Avengers! Being the massive Marvel fan I am, it's been hard to wait after my plans to see it last weekend fell through, but the time has come, and I am very excited...

What have you been up to this week?
